LASIK is a very successful surgery that utilizes precise pulses of energy to heal damaged corneas by reconstructing them to ensure that light is optimally focused by the retina. LASIK isn’t invasive and the patient’s eyes are momentarily numbed while they lie down for the treatment. The Laser Eye Center also treats patients with PRK surgery. PRK also includes momentarily relaxing the patient’s eyes. The cornea is redesigned with pulses of energy and the treatment is done within two minutes. After the surgery, modified contact lenses may be provided for 2-5 days in order to safeguard the eyes during recovery.
